Trademark Application Flow Chart

Search for Prior Trademark Registrations or Applications before filing an application. (optional)

We conduct a search to investigate whether an identical or a similar trademark has been applied for registration or registered with the Japanese Patent Office, and study if the client's trademark has registration possibility, based upon this search on request.

If an identical or similar trademark has already been registered or applied for registration designating identical or similar goods or services, there will be little possibility of registration of the subject trademark. Therefore, it is effective to conduct the search to prevent filing fruitless applications and to save both time and expense.
Also, the search is important to prevent the use of a mark which may infringe other party's trademark right.

NOTE:
Even if neither prior application nor registration of identical or similar trademark is found by the search, this does not guarantee that the trademark will be registered because other registration requirements must be satisfied and the time lag of the data search must be considered.
